1. MSI GE76 Raider
An extreme MSI gaming laptop
If you’ve got a big budget and you’re looking for an extreme gaming laptop, then the MSI GE76 Raider might be worth a look. The GE76 Raider comes with an 11th generation Intel Core i9-11980HK processor, 32GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, and a 4TB SSD.
It also comes with a larger 17.3-inch 1080P display that sports a whopping 360Hz refresh rate.
Of course, for all of that upgraded hardware, you have to pay a premium. The GE76 Raider comes in at just under ~$5,800, making it one of the most expensive gaming laptops currently on the market.
If you have the money to spend on a laptop, you likely won’t be disappointed with the GE76 Raider. However, there are options listed below that will also deliver a high-end gaming experience, without costing so much money.
2. MSI GE66 Raider
MSI’s top 4K gaming laptop
If you’re not as hardcore of a competitive gamer and you mainly play games that have better visuals, a 4K gaming laptop might be a better option for you. And, the MSI GE66 Raider is about as good of a 4K gaming laptop as you’ll currently find. (With exception, perhaps, to the ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo SE 15—which costs ~$2,500 more.)
The GE66 Raider comes with a 15.6-inch 4K display that has a 60Hz refresh rate. For the core hardware, the GE66 comes with the same configuration as the GE76 Raider listed above: an Intel Core i9-11980HK processor, 32GB of RAM, and an RTX 3080 GPU. It does have half the storage (4TB for the GE76 and 2TB for the GE66), but 2TB of storage capacity is still a lot more than most laptops come with.
And, at a little under ~$3,500, the GE66 Raider is quite a bit cheaper than the GE76.
So, if you’re ready to jump into 4K gaming (and you’re willing to tradeoff the higher resolution display in exchange for a higher refresh rate), then the GE66 Raider is a solid option to consider.
3. MSI GE76 Dragon
The best 360Hz MSI gaming laptop
Another excellent MSI gaming laptop option for anyone who either doesn’t want to spend the enormous amount necessary to get the GE76 Raider, or who doesn’t want to sacrifice a high refresh rate for a 4K display, is the MSI GE76 Dragon TIAMAT.
Like the GE76 Raider, the GE76 Dragon TIAMAT comes with an Intel Core i9-11980HK processor, 32GB of RAM, and a 17.3-inch 1080P 360Hz display.
Unlike the GE76 Raider, the GE76 Dragon comes with an RTX 3070 GPU instead of the more powerful RTX 3080.
Still, though, the RTX 3070 is a high-end GPU that will run anything on max settings at a high enough framerate to take advantage of the higher refresh rate display. And, at just under ~$3,500, the GE76 Dragon TIAMAT comes in at a significant discount when compared to the GE76 Radier RTX 3080 laptop.
So, if you don’t mind sacrificing some GPU performance (which, in the grand scheme of things, won’t matter too much on a 1080P display), the GE76 Dragon TIAMAT is an excellent option.
4. MSI Stealth 15M
MSI’s best value gaming laptop
For those of you that are working with a more moderate budget, MSI’s Stealth 15M is a solid option. It comes with a newer Intel Core i7-11375H processor, 16GB of RAM, an RTX 3060 GPU, and a 512GB SSD.
It also has a 15.6-inch 1080P display that comes with a 144Hz refresh rate. And, it comes in with a pricetag of just under ~$1,400.
That’s an excellent CPU-GPU combination for the price.
The only other current laptop options that might offer better value are the Acer Nitro 5 54-77KG (which is ~$200 less expensive, but has a weaker GPU), or the ASUS ROG Strix G17 (which is ~$100 more expensive, but has an upgrade CPU). All-in-all, though, the MSI Stealth 15M RTX 3060 laptop is a great option for gamers who don’t have a huge amount to spend, but who are looking for something that will give them near ideal in-game performance.
5. MSI GF75
The best budget MSI gaming laptop
For a gaming laptop under $1,000, MSI’s GF75 Thin is worth a look. It’s not the best gaming laptop on the market, but it has a hardware configuration that is decent enough to allow you to run most games on at least medium settings.
It comes with an older Intel Core i5-10300H processor, 8GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 1650 Ti GPU, and a 512GB SSD. It also comes with a bigger 17.3-inch 1080P display that has a 144Hz refresh rate.
While that isn’t a hardware configuration that is going to blow anyone away, the larger screen and the 144Hz refresh rate on a sub-$1,000 laptop is a good deal. However, if you’re willing to spend ~$100 more, ASUS’ TUF Dash 15 is another budget gaming laptop worth considering. It does have a smaller screen, but it also comes with an upgraded processor and GPU and still sports a 144Hz display as well.
