1. MSI GL65 Leopard 15.6″

Top gaming laptop under $1,500

MSI GL65 Leopard
  • 1920 x 1080 Screen
  • Intel i7-10750H
  • NVIDIA RTX 2070
  • 16GB DDR4 RAM

The MSI GL65 Leopard is our pick for the best gaming laptop under $1,500. There’s a lot to like about this laptop as it comes with a brand new Intel Core i7-10750H processor, an NVIDIA RTX 2070 GPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. The GL65 also sports a 15.6-inch 144Hz 1080P display.

The combination of the 10750H and the RTX 2070 will be more than enough to max out any game on this laptop and be able to maintain a high enough frame rate to really take advantage of the higher refresh rate.

You could opt for the ASUS ROG Strix laptop listed below, as it does come with the higher 240Hz refresh rate. However, the GL65 costs ~$100 less and there won’t be a significant difference in performance between the two laptops. If you are a competitive gamer, though, the difference between the 240Hz and 144Hz display might be something you want to consider.

2. ASUS ROG Strix G15 15.6″

Best 240Hz laptop under $1,500

ASUS ROG Strix G15
  • 1920 x 1080 Screen
  • Intel i7-10750H
  • NVIDIA RTX 2070
  • 16GB DDR4 RAM

Our Rating: 9.2/10

As mentioned above, the ASUS ROG Strix G15 is a nice alternative to the MSI GL65 listed above. It does come with the faster display (240Hz vs 144Hz) and twice the SSD storage capacity (1TB vs 512GB).

However, after those two differences, the laptops sport essentially the same hardware. Like the GL65, the ASUS ROG Strix G15 comes with an Intel Core i7-10750H processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 GPU, and 16GB of RAM. It also has a 15.6-inch 1080P display.

The bottom line, though, is that if you don’t mind spending an extra $100 to get a faster display and extra storage, the G15 is probably the better bet for you.

3. Sager NP7858DW 15.6″

A solid value gaming laptop

Sager NP7858DW
  • 1920 x 1080 Screen
  • Intel i7-10875H
  • NVIDIA RTX 2060
  • 16GB DDR4 RAM

Our Rating: 9.0/10

If you don’t quite want to spend $1,500 on a new gaming laptop, you could opt for Sager’s NP7858DW. The NP7858DW is a 15.6-inch laptop that comes in at just under $1,250.

The NP7858DW does come with a weaker GPU (an RTX 2060) when compared to the two laptops listed above (which have an RTX 2070). However, the RTX 2060 is more than powerful enough to max out any game on this laptop’s 1080P display.

Along with the RTX 2060 GPU, the NP7858DW comes with an Intel Core i7-10875H processor, 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, and a 144Hz refresh rate display.

Overall, if you want to save ~$150-$250 over the GL65 and ROG Strix G15, this laptop will allow you to do so without sacrificing too much performance.

4. ASUS TUF 15.6″

Top gaming laptop under $1,000

ASUS TUF Gaming Laptop
  • 1920 x 1080 Screen
  • Ryzen 3750H
  • NVIDIA RTX 2060
  • 16GB DDR4 RAM

Our Rating: 8.9/10

Speaking of saving money, you can save even more by opting for this budget-friendly ASUS TUF 15.6-inch laptop.

At just under $1,000, it doesn’t quite offer the same CPU performance as the options listed above, but the AMD Ryzen 7 3750H processor is no slouch either. And, with an RTX 2060, the performance difference between this laptop and the other RTX 2060 laptops on this list will be negligible.

Along with the Ryzen CPU and the RTX 2060 GPU, this laptop comes with a 1080P 120Hz display, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD.

In the end, this laptop will be able to handle any game you throw at it with ease and will save you quite a bit of money over the options listed above.

5. Dell G3 15.6″

Honorable mention #1

Dell G3 15 3500
  • 1920 x 1080 Screen
  • Intel i7-10750H
  • NVIDIA RTX 2060
  • 16GB DDR4 RAM

Our Rating: 9.0/10

One laptop under $1,500 that didn’t quite crack our top picks is the Dell G3 15. While it is a solid laptop overall, and an option that will easily max out any game you throw at it, at its price of just under $1,400, it doesn’t quite match the value of the laptops listed above.

It does come with an Intel Core i7-10750H processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPU, 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, and a 15.6-inch 144Hz 1080P display.

While those specs are good, for the same price you can get the MSI GL65, which has essentially the same specs, but features an upgraded RTX 2070 laptop.

And, for quite a bit less you can get the Sager NP7858DW, which will offer basically the same performance.

6. Acer Helios 300 17.3″

Honorable mention #2

Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop
  • 1920 x 1080 Screen
  • Intel i7-10750H
  • NVIDIA RTX R060
  • 16GB DDR4 RAM

Our Rating: 9.0/10

Check Price on Amazon

Another Honorable Mention pick is the Acer Helios 300. The Helios 300 comes in at just under $1,500, but unlike our two top picks, it comes with a less powerful RTX 2060 instead of an RTX 2070.

So, for that reason alone, it’s a tough option to recommend unless the price comes down significantly.

The one thing the Acer Helios 300 does have going for it, though, is the fact that it comes with a bigger 17.3-inch display. If the bigger display is something you’d be interested in and you don’t mind sacrificing some GPU performance to get it, either the Helios 300 or the Prostar laptop listed below would be worth considering.

7. Prostar NH77DDW 17.3″

Honorable mention #3

Prostar NH77DDW
  • 1920 x 1080 Screen
  • Intel i7-10875H CPU
  • NVIDIA RTX 2060
  • 32GB DDR4 RAM

Our Rating: 9.0/10

Check Price on Amazon

Finally, we have the Prostar NH77DDW. Like the Acer Helios 300, despite having a larger display than the other options on this list, the Prostar NH77DDW doesn’t crack our top picks for the best gaming laptop under $1,500.

The Prostar NH77DDW is worth considering, though. Not only does it have a larger 17.3-inch display, but it also comes with 32GB of RAM and an upgraded i7-10875H processor. Those three features might make it a good option for anyone who wants their laptop to double as a work system.

The larger display, the upgraded CPU, and the extra RAM will help users who need to work on non-gaming related tasks.

But, for strictly gaming purposes, the cost of this laptop and the less powerful GPU make it a tough sell considering the competition.
