It seems like just yesterday that 144Hz refresh rate monitors were considered to be extreme options for gamers. Now, you can get 1080P monitors with as high as a 360Hz refresh rate. And, while there may be some debate on how significant the real-world difference between 144Hz and 360Hz refresh rates, if you are a competitive gamer that is looking for every advantage possible, what’s spending a little more for all those extra refresh cycles?

Of the 360Hz monitors that are currently on the market, Acer’s Predator X25 is one of the top options. Along with its ultra fast refresh rate, the X25 has a 1080P display, G-Sync compatibility, and a ridiculous 0.3ms response time.

The downside of the X25, however, is the fact that it is easily the most expensive 360Hz monitor currently on the market despite not having a significant advantage (aside from, perhaps, the 0.3ms response time). At just under ~$800, it is far more expensive than the ASUS ROG Swift PG259QN, the MSI Oculux NXG253R, and the Alienware AW2521H—all of which come in at between $550-$650.

That’s as much as a $200 difference. So, unless the price comes down significantly, it’s tough to recommend the X25 over some of the other similarly specced 360Hz monitors from the competition. If you don’t mind paying a premium for the Acer Predator brand name and the extra-fast 0.3ms response time, though, by all means, get the X25.

2. Acer Predator XB273K

The best 4K Acer Predator display

  • 3840 x 2160 Resolution
  • 144Hz Refresh Rate
  • 1ms Response Time
  • G-Sync Ready

If you’ve got the budget and the high-end gaming computer necessary to running games on a 4K 144Hz display, then the Acer Predator XB273K might be the best fit for you. It’s a 27-inch 4K display that comes with G-Sync compatibility, a 1ms response time, and a 144Hz refresh rate. (Technically, the stock refresh rate is 120Hz, but you can overclock the monitor to get it to reach 144Hz.)

The price on the XB273K isn’t cheap, though. (None of Acer Predator’s monitors are.) At a little over $600, it is a hefty price to pay for a single display. And, as mentioned above, you will need an extreme gaming computer with a Tier 1 NVIDIA GPU (RTX 3090, RTX 3080 Ti, RTX 3080…) in order to make proper use of it. However, it is about the same price as the 360Hz displays on the market (and much cheaper than Acer’s 360Hz display.) That’s pretty good for a display with a 4K resolution and a high refresh rate.

Ultimately, Acer’s Predator XB273K represents the pinnacle of 4K gaming. If you’re looking for the best visuals and an extremely smooth experience, the combination of the 4K resolution and the 144Hz refresh rate will give you the best of both worlds.

3. Acer Predator XB323U

The best 1440P Acer Predator monitor

Acer Predator XB323U
  • 2560 x 1440 Resolution
  • 270Hz Refresh Rate
  • 0.5ms Response Time
  • G-Sync Ready

While 1440P 144Hz monitors used to serve as the perfect middle between 1080P 240Hz displays and 4K 60Hz displays, with the rise of 4K 144Hz monitors, 1440P displays have had to get faster. Now, you can get a 1440P display with refresh rates all the way up to 270Hz. That’s what the Acer Predator XB323U brings to the table.

The Acer Predator XB323U is a 32-inch display that comes with a 1440P WQHD IPS display, a 270Hz refresh rate, and a 0.5ms response time. Like the XB273K listed above, the XB323U will require an extreme gaming computer in order to take full advantage of. But, if you have the budget and hardware to accommodate this 1440P 240Hz+ display, you likely won’t regret it.

If you’re on the fence between the XB323U and the XB273K, our recommendation would be to opt for the XB273K if you aren’t as competitive of a gamer and you’re playing more story-driven titles with advanced visuals, and opt for the XB323U if you’re playing more competitive titles where the extra refresh rate will help you (but the higher resolution won’t.)

4. Acer Predator X38

An extreme ultrawide gaming display

Acer Predator X38
  • 3840 x 1600 Resolution
  • 175Hz Refresh Rate
  • 0.3ms Response Time
  • G-Sync Ready

Our Rating: 9.7/10

Did you think that the displays listed above were extreme? Think again. Acer’s Predator X38 is perhaps the pinnacle of gaming monitors. It is a 38-inch ultrawide curved display that sports a 3840 x 1600 resolution, a 175Hz refresh rate, G-Sync compatibility, and a 0.3ms response time.

That doesn’t quite make it a 4K display, but it has a higher native resolution than most ultrawide displays, which commonly sport a 3440 x 1440 resolution. Its 175Hz refresh rate is the highest among higher-resolution ultrawide monitors as well.

Of course, you’ll have to pay a premium to get this monster display… the X38 comes in with a price tag of just under $1,700. That’s the price of an entire system (or, in wake of the GPU shortage, one high-end GPU). But, if you are the type of gamer that has to have the best, the X38 might be the option for you.

5. Acer Predator XB253Q

Top value Acer Predator gaming monitor

Acer Predator XB253Q
  • 1920 x 1080 Resolution
  • 240Hz Refresh Rate
  • 0.5ms Response Time
  • G-Sync Ready

While most Acer Predator monitors come with a premium, their XB253Q comes with a more moderate pricetag. At a little under $300, the XB253Q comes with a 1080P display, G-Sync compatibility, a 0.5ms response time, and a 240Hz refresh rate.

The 1080P resolution, the 0.5ms response time, and the 240Hz refresh rate will be perfect for competitive gamers who don’t want to spend a fortune on one of the newer 360Hz displays, but who want something that will give them a slight advantage in their games.

Ultimately, if you’re looking for a solid gaming monitor to pair with a more budget-friendly gaming PC, the Acer Predator XB253Q is a worthy option to consider.

Which Acer Predator Monitor is Right for You?
