For A Limited Time This High-End Samsung Gen 4 SSD Can Be Had for Under $70

SAMSUNG 990 EVO SSD Limited Time Sale

Samsung is one of the most reliable brands for solid state drives and their EVO lineup of NVME SSDs is easily one of the better-regarded options on the market. And, right now, for a limited time you can pick up the 1TB version of Samsung’s 990 EV0 for just under $70 at either Amazon or Newegg.

This 1TB drive can hit read speeds of up to 5,000 MB/s and write speeds of up to 4,200 MB/s. It can reach random reads up to 700K IOPS and randrom writes up to 800K IOPS. And, it comes with an impressive 5-year warranty.

The Samsung SSD’s unique feature is that it can run at the PCIe 5.0 standard, but it will only use two lanes (X2). So, it won’t offer the speed of a Gen 5 SSD, but if you have a motherboard that supports Gen 5 SSDs, you can use this drive to free up your PCIe 4.0 lanes.

The 990 EVO has received rave reviews on both Amazon (4.8/5 stars) and Newegg (4.7/5 eggs). It has also been received well by professional reviewers, earning 4/5 ratings from PCMag, PCWorld, and TechRadar.

Who Should Buy This Drive?

This drive would make an excellent option for anyone who could use a fast storage device, whether as an upgrade to an existing machine, or as part of a new PC build.

NVME drives can easily be added to most modern laptops, so if you’re a laptop user, you can either use this drive to replace your existing NVME drive, or, if you have an additional M.2 port open, as a secondary storage device.

For PC builders working with a moderate budget, I typically recommend getting at least a 1TB NVME SSD for their builds. I currently recommend Crucial’s P3 Plus NVME SSD in this $700 build, but with this excellent deal from Samsung, I’d switch my recommendation to the 990 EVO for as long as it stays at this price.
