3 Gaming PCs That Meet Overwatch System Requirements (Budget, Mid-Range, & Ultra)

Gaming PC for Overwatch System RequirementsIf you need a new PC that will meet Overwatch’s system requirements, in this guide, we’ve recommended three solid gaming PCs for Overwatch (cheap, mid-range, and high-end) that will run the game without any problems.

The cool thing about Overwatch is that, despite having pretty nice-looking graphics, it isn’t as demanding of a game as you would imagine. Part of that is because the game opts for more of a cartoon-style of graphics rather than life-like graphics (like a game like PUBG does) and the other part is because the game is very well optimized. Still, though, there are people out there who are either playing Overwatch on older computers that aren’t delivering adequate levels of performance, or there are console games who want to switch to playing Overwatch on the PC who need a decent system to run it.

So, in this guide, we’re going to give you three different gaming PCs that will meet (and exceed) the minimum and recommended requirements for running Overwatch. Overwatch’s minimum and recommended system requirements are as follows:

Overwatch Minimum Requirements

CPU Intel Core i3 or AMD Phenom X3 8650
GPU NVIDIA GTX 460 or Radeon HD 4850
RAM 4GB of Memory
OS Windows 7/8/10 64-bit

Overwatch Recommended Requirements

CPU Intel Core i5 or  AMD Phenom II X3
GPU NVIDIA GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7950
RAM 6GB of Memory
OS Windows 7/8/10 64-bit

Again, as you can see, the minimum and recommended requirements for running Overwatch are much lower than you would imagine. Even the recommended requirements for the game call for 5-6-year-old hardware. But, if you’re playing on an older laptop, or you want to upgrade your computer to be able to play the game on a higher resolution or higher refresh rate monitor, or if you’re coming over from a console, the three systems in this guide will provide an ideal experience in running Overwatch.

Super Cheap $300 Gaming PC for Overwatch

Ryzen 5 2200GWho says that PC gaming can’t be affordable? With this ultra-cheap $300 gaming PC build, you can expect to run Overwatch on lower-to-medium settings on a 1080P monitor with high framerates. And, as Overwatch is a competitive game, not playing it at the highest graphics settings won’t be something that will have a drastic effect on your experience.

This build comes with an AMD Ryzen 3 2200G APU, 8GB of DDR4 memory, a 320GB hard drive, and a 450W power supply. While this is by no means a high-end gaming computer, it can run most games on at least lower settings and it easily surpasses Overwatch’s minimum system requirements.

And, with just a couple of upgrades, it will be able to play anything on an affordable 1080P monitor on medium-to-higher settings. To upgrade this build, I’d first add a solid mid-range graphics card (like an RX 580), and then second, upgrade the processor to a mid-range AMD Ryzen CPU (like a Ryzen 5 2600.)

That combination will be powerful enough to play any game out there on higher settings. Then, after that, to make this system a more well-rounded computer, I’d add an SSD and a second 8GB stick of memory.

Ultimately, though, if you’re switching from console to PC and/or you just need an affordable gaming PC for Overwatch, this entry-level PC build will allow you to run the game at a level that won’t hinder your in-game experience and performance.

$600 Gaming PC Build that Can Max-Out Overwatch

MSI RX 580 8GBFor $600 you can build a gaming PC that will be able to run Overwatch at maximum settings with very high framerates on a 1080P monitor. In fact, this build will even allow you to run the game on a higher resolution or higher refresh rate monitor, too.

The system comes with a quad-core Intel Core i3-8100 processor, an AMD RX 580 8GB graphics card, 8GB of RAM, a 1TB hard drive, and a semi-modular 550W power supply.

The i3-8100 and RX 580 8GB combination is powerful enough to not only run Overwatch at higher settings but to run pretty much any other modern game on higher settings on a 1080P monitor as well. So, with this build, not only are you getting a system that easily meets the recommended system requirements for Overwatch, but you’re also getting a solid gaming computer for other popular titles as well.

For upgrades, the first thing I would probably do with this build is to add an SSD and a second 8GB stick of memory. In a couple of years (or when you have the budget to do so), I’d then upgrade to an Intel Core i7-8700 and then if you plan on jumping into 4K gaming, whatever $200-$300+ graphics card makes sense at the time.

Ultimately, though, this build as is will be plenty powerful enough for running Overwatch and it should serve as a solid gaming computer for 1080P gaming for at least the next 4-5 years.

$900 PC Build to Run Fortnite on a 144Hz Monitor

MSI GTX 1070If you’re an ultra-competitive Overwatch player who doesn’t have an enormous budget, the good news is that for just $900, you can build a system that will offer an ideal in-game experience.

This $900 gaming PC build comes with an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 processor, a GTX 1070 8GB graphics card, 16GB of DDR4 memory, a 240GB SSD, a 1TB hard drive, and a semi-modular 550W power supply.

With the Ryzen 5 2600 and the GTX 1070 8GB graphics card, this system is powerful enough to run Overwatch on a 1440P 144Hz G-Sync monitor. (Check out our guide the best affordable G-Sync monitors). A high-refresh-rate G-Sync monitor will offer the ultimate experience in first-person shooter games like Overwatch and it can even give you an advantage over other players that aren’t playing with those features.

In terms of upgrade options, all you might want to add to this system is more storage. Other than that, this is a high-end gaming computer that can max anything out on a 1080P monitor with ease and will even allow you to play more demanding games on a 1440P monitor, too.

Overall, if you’re looking for a powerful gaming PC to run both Overwatch and more demanding games, this PC build will be able to do so for the foreseeable future.

*At this price range, you can also get a decent gaming laptop that will be able to run Overwatch with no problems. Check out our guide on the best gaming laptops under $1,000 to find options that will work for you.

  1. Hey Brent,
I’ve been browsing PC related stuff for a while now; I am particularly interested in the ‘$600 Gaming PC Build that Can Max-Out Overwatch’ on this page (https://techguided.com/gaming-pcs-for-overwatch-system-requirements/#3). I am aware this is a bit dated and have also browsed some of the more recently proposed PC’s on here, however, whenever I click on the ‘price on amazon’ or ‘shop pre-builts’ I get redirected to a page stating: ‘page not found’ (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B077QDM2DP/?tag=elitgamicomp-21). Perhaps this is to do with my topography of being in the UK? I did notice the pricings are listed in dollars- regardless I was wondering if you’d be able to help me out by sorting out a way for me to be able to view this listing or something similar (can run Overwatch at 1080p 60fps around £600/$600 if possible)

    kind regards –

    Aidan.
