EleDuino 2K 13.3″

  • 2560 x 1440 Resolution
  • Comes With A Stand
  • IPS Panel
  • USB-C & HDMI

Our Rating: 9.2/10

The EleDuino 2K 13.3″ monitor is our pick for the best overall portable display. It features a 13.3″ IPS panel screen that has a 2560 x 1440 resolution.

It also comes with both HDMI and USB-C ports, so it can be used as a primary monitor, making it a great option for console and PC gaming, for use as a travel monitor, and for pairing with a mobile Raspberry Pi setup.

It also has built-in speakers, is compatible with most common operating systems, and comes with a stand to help keep it upright. The EleDuino 2K weighs just a little over 1-pound, too, so moving it around should be no issue.

And, perhaps its best feature is its price. At just under $175, and with all of the features that it provides, the EleDunio 2K not only delivers a high-quality display, but it also offers excellent value for the price you pay for it.

Best Option for Extending Displays:
AOC i1601fwux 16″

AOC i1601fwux
  • 1920 x 1080 Resolution
  • Comes With A Stand
  • IPS Panel
  • USB-C Only

Our Rating: 9.2/10

AOC’s i1601fwux 16″ monitor is our pick for the best option for extending your existing display. It has a very sizeable 16″ screen that will work perfectly as an extended display for your laptop or desktop.

However, outside of extending your display, the AOC i1601fwux probably isn’t a great use for anything else. Because it can only be connected via USB-C, it can only be used as a second display by Windows and it won’t work with a gaming console.

So, even though the i1601fwux is a solid all-around monitor, it is limited by what it can do. Still, though, at just a little over $150, it’s the biggest monitor on this list. And, if all you need is a portable option that you can use along with an existing display, then this one will be perfect for you.

Best Smaller Screen:
Eyoyo 2K 10″

Eyoyo 2K
  • 2560 x 1600 Resolution
  • Comes With A Stand
  • IPS Panel
  • HDMI Only

Our Rating: 8.9/10

If you don’t need a large portable monitor, Eyoyo’s smaller 10″ 1600P display might be the best option for you. It has an IPS panel, that sports a 2560 x 1600 resolution. It comes with HDMI ports, too, so it can be used as a primary monitor, which makes it perfect for on-the-go console or PC gaming.

Like the other options on this list, the Eyoyo 2K also comes with a stand and has a very lightweight design. It can be powered by a DC adapter, or by a mobile USB power supply, too. At under $150, it is a pretty good value for the features it offers.

So, whether you’re looking for a small portable monitor for gaming or a small display for work-related purposes, the Eyoyo 2K 10″ IPS monitor is a fairly affordable option that you’ll want to consider.

Ultra-Cheap Portable Display:
UOTOO Portable 7″

UOTOO Portable
  • 1024 x 600 Resolution
  • Comes With A Stand
  • IPS Panel
  • HDMI & VGA

Our Rating: 7.5/10

Check Price on Amazon

For those of you who are looking for a cheap no-frills portable display, UOTOO’s 7″ portable monitor is worth considering. It won’t blow you away with its display resolution (it has a 1024 x 600 resolution) and its 7″ screen is fairly small.

However, at just a little over $50, it is one of the cheapest portable displays currently on the market. And, because it comes with HDMI and VGA ports, it can be used as a primary monitor. Its perfect for use with a Raspberry Pi system, as a display for a security camera, or even for retro-gaming on the go.

It also comes with built-in speakers and a stand as well.

Ultimately, the UOTOO Portable 7″ display isn’t a high-end option, but rather an option that will work for somebody who just wants a small cheap monitor.

Honorable Mention #1:
Elecrow IPS 13.3″

Elecrow IPS 13.3
  • 1920 x 1080 Resolution
  • Comes With A Stand
  • IPS Panel
  • HDMI Only

Our Rating: 8.6/10

Check Price on Amazon

In a lot of ways, for many users, the Elecrow 13.3″ portable monitor might be an even better option than our top pick, the EleDuino 2K display. While this display from Elecrow does have a lower resolution (1080P vs. 1440P) than the EleDuino display, in a lot of ways, that works in favor of Elecrow’s monitor.

This is especially true if you are looking for a portable monitor for gaming. Because on a 1440P monitor, you’re going to need a more powerful computer in order to run your games properly. Whereas on a 1080P monitor, even a cheaper gaming PC could run games on it just fine.

The other advantage that the Elecrow 13.3″ IPS monitor has over the EleDuino 1440P monitor is that it is about ~$30 cheaper. So, even for professional use, where the extra screen resolution could be helpful, most individuals might rather opt for the lower price, rather than pay to get the higher resolution display.

Overall, though, whether you prefer the 1440P display that the EleDuino 2K monitor comes with, or you’d rather save some money and get this 1080P display from Elecrow, both options are quality choices that you likely won’t be disappointed in.

Honorable Mention #2:
Elecrow IPS 10.1″

Elecrow IPS 10.1
  • 1920 x 1080 Resolution
  • Comes With A Stand
  • IPS Panel
  • HDMI & VGA

Our Rating: 8.4/10

Check Price on Amazon

If you like the Elecrow display listed above, but you don’t need quite as big of a screen and/or you’d prefer to save some extra money, the Elecrow 10.1″ will give you a similar offering in a smaller and cheaper package.

The Elecrow 10.1″ monitor has an IPS panel, a 1080P resolution, both HDMI and VGA ports (so it can operate as a primary screen), a monitor stand, and built-in speakers.

Its perfect for on-the-go gaming, use as a security display, as an extended display for a laptop, or for Raspberry Pi systems.

Ultimately, as long as you don’t need a larger display, the Elecrow 10.1″ might be the best value option on this list. It’s just a little over $100 and it should give most people in need of a portable display everything they need.

Honorable Mention #3:
GeChic 1503A 15.6″

GeChic 1503A 15.6
  • 1366 x 768 Resolution
  • Comes With A Stand
  • TN Panel
  • HDMI & VGA

Our Rating: 8.4/10

Check Price on Amazon

The GeChic 1503A 15.6″ portable monitor is another option worth mentioning. It is the most expensive option on this list, but it does offer a large 15.6″ display and, unlike the AOC i1601fqux, it does have an HDMI and VGA port on it, meaning that it can be used as a primary option, as well as an extended display.

The downside of the GeChic 1503A, though, is that it only comes with a 1366×768 resolution. This might actually benefit gamers who have entry-level systems, as the lower resolution will be easier to run games at. However, if you’re looking to get better visuals, for a lot less money you can get a 1080P, 1440P or 1600P portable screen.

In the end, if this was a 1080P display, it would likely get rated a lot higher. GeChich does have 15.6″ 1080P displays, but they are much more expensive, which, in my opinion, kills their value.

Is A Portable Monitor Right for You?

While portable monitors are a bit of a niche item, there is a wide range of users who could utilize a portable display. Whether you’re hitting the road and you want to take your console or gaming PC with you, or you want a lightweight display to use to extend your laptop’s display, a portable monitor is a fairly affordable option to help you accomplish both of those tasks.

Ultimately, if you’re in the market for a portable monitor, the seven options listed above will work for the majority of use cases that require a portable display.

1 thought on “Best Portable Monitors: 7 HDMI & USB Monitors for Gaming, Laptops, & Travel”

  1. Are these portable HDMI display monitors able to withstand factory floor environments? That is the type of monitor display I am looking for..a rugged, heavy duty LCD display that can withstand hours and hours of operation and use and abuse by Factory workers.

Are these display monitors just for gaming?
