For inputs, the A5+ can connect via 3.5mm jack, RCA, USB, and Bluetooth as well (although, the Bluetooth version costs quite a bit more.)

Overall, though, if sound quality is the feature you care about most and you have a larger budget, the Audioengine A5+ is probably your best bet.

Another option from Audioengine is their A2+ 2.0 speaker system. The A2+ isn’t as powerful as the A5+ and so it won’t be able to deliver quite as high-end of sound quality. However, the A2+ system does come about ~$150 less than the A5+ system, while still delivering great sound quality overall.

It can deliver up to 60 watts of power between the two speakers and can be connected to via 3.5mm jack, RCA, or USB. While the speakers are a bit heavier than some of the cheaper options on this list, at ~7 lbs. in total, they are still lightweight enough to make them solid options for laptop users who move around in their home/office. Although, transporting them outside of the home/office probably isn’t in the cards.

For those of you that need a Bluetooth speaker set, but you want a set of speakers that will deliver excellent sound quality, the Edifier e25 Luna Eclipse might be worth checking out. These speakers come in at just under $200 and are capable of delivering an above average sound quality.

The Edifier e25 Luna Eclipses can also be connected to via an auxiliary cable as well and, between the two speakers, are capable of delivering 74 watts of power. They are at the upper end of the $100-$200 price range, though, and if you want to save a little money, the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 or the Harman Kardon Soundsticks III would offer similar sound-quality (as well as come with a subwoofer) for ~$30-$50 less.

The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speaker system is a solid option for anyone who has a moderate budget and who wants to add a little more oomph to their computer’s sound system.

The ProMedia 2.1 comes with 200 watts of power including a 130-watt subwoofer. This set of speakers is also THX-certified as well, so you can expect cinema-level sound quality as well.

The speakers can only be connected via a 3.5mm jack, but seeing as how most computers and commonly used devices have these, it shouldn’t be a problem. Overall, if you’re looking to get more bass for the price you pay, the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 is probably the better value option when compared to both the more expensive Edifier e25 Luna Eclipse and the less expensive Harman Kardon Soundsticks III.

Harman Kardon Soundsticks III

While the Harman Kardon Soundsticks III is no slouch in the sound-quality category, nobody can deny that the most unique aspect about them is their design. The see-through encasement on the speakers and subwoofer give the Soundsticks II and old-school industrial look, which will help them stand out in your setup.

For sound quality, the system is able to deliver an above-average listening experience and the speaker set comes with 60 watts of power and a 3.5mm jack that will all you to connect just about any device to them.

The Soundsticks also come in at ~$20 less than the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 set and ~$50 less than the Edifier e25 Luna Eclipses. So, if you’re looking to save some money and you like the design of the Soundsticks, that might be your best bet.

Another solid 2.1 speaker system that might be worth considering if you’re working with a tighter budget is Logitech’s Z623.

The Z623 can deliver 200 watts and hit up to 400 watts of peak power.

The Z623 system is also THX-certified. And, the best part is that they come in at just under $100.

So, if you’re looking for a nice-sounding speaker set for your computer, but you don’t quite have the budget to drop hundreds on a high-end speaker system, the Logitech Z623’s will be worth considering.

Creative Labs GigaWorks T20

For about $30 less than the Logitech Z623 speaker system listed above, you can land Creative Lab’s GigaWorks T20 Series II 2.0 speaker set. The two speakers are able to deliver 28 watts of power and can be connected to via RCA, or a 3.5mm jack.

While these speakers won’t deliver audiophile-level sound-quality, if you are working with a tight budget and you need a cheap speaker option to improve the audio quality of your computer and/or laptop, the GigaWorks T20 speaker set will likely be a valid option for you.

Although, if you wanted to save even more money, you could check out some of the ultra-budget-friendly speaker systems listed below as well.

For ~$10 more than the Creative Pebble 2.0 speaker system, you can get Cyber Acoustics’ 2.1 speaker system. It does come with a subwoofer, too, so if you are looking for a little more power than what the Pebble has to offer and you don’t need as portable of a system, the Cyber Acoustics 2.1 might be the better option.

However, the sound quality on the Cyber Acoustics 2.1 won’t be extraordinary and will lag a little behind the Pebble in the grand scheme of things if you don’t need extra bass.

But, ultimately, this is a decent sub-$30 speaker system for desktop users who need a cheap option to either fill the need for a casual audio experience or as an affordable option that can hold the user over until they can afford something more expensive. Of course, though, if that’s the case, you could get both the Creative Pebble and the super cheap Logitech speakers below for even less.

If you really just need a budget-friendly set of speakers that can hold you over until you can afford a higher-quality speaker system, then the Logitech S120 is probably the best option for you.

While the Logitech S120 won’t blow you away with an above-average sound quality, it comes in at a price of just a little over $10. So, while there’s really not much to say about the S120 in terms of the audio-quality it is able to deliver, it is an incredibly cheap option.

Ultimately, you shouldn’t expect the world out of the S120. But, if you just need a temporary set of speakers or you don’t have a lot of demands and just need something that will play audio, then these will work just fine.
